Emergency 999 Assistance

In an emergency, ie. a crime is in progress, you should ALWAYS CALL 999 and say you need Police assistance urgently.

Crime Reporting

Incidents of crime or suspect behaviour must ALWAYS be reported/recorded on line at www.hampshire.police.uk ASAP.

It is so important that crime and suspect behaviour is reported. If the Police have not received an official report they cannot act.

REPORT, REPORT, REPORT.

If crime is not reported, then the Police won’t know it ever happened!

REPORT A CRIME

CCTV / Cameras

Wickham Chamber of Trade is currently building a picture of what CCTV / camera coverage we currently have in the village. We will then work towards filling any gaps / blind spots to provide complete coverage and create an effective camera network that will not only act as a deterrant but that can also be called upon to provide crucial evidence when crime takes place.

Subsequently, this will help to make Wickham a safer village for all.

If you run a business in or around The Square and have 60 seconds to spare, please, please, please would you take a minute to complete this super quick form about security cameras to help us in our efforts to make Wickham a safer village for all.

UK Partners Against Crime (UKPAC)

A crime-fighting app, supported by Police and Crime Commissioner Donna Jones, has directly led to the conviction of 66 shoplifters, secured over 45 years of custodial sentences, and saved 787 hours of police time, contributing to a saving of £55,000 in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight over the past six months.

You can read all about it here:  https://www.hampshire-pcc.gov.uk/ukpac_nov2025

Wickham Chamber of Trade is currently looking in to whether we can secure a single subscription for all its members to save every business having to sign up individually.

In the meantime, UKPAC is free of charge until April 2026 so why not give it a trial?

Please Note: UKPAC does not replace the need for reporting urgent and/or in progress crime to the Police directly by calling 999.

Community Safety Officer

Earlier this year, Wickham & Knowle Parish Council were successful in applying for a grant from the Police and Crime Commissioner towards a trial of a Community Safety Officer (CSO) project in the Parish.

There were no suitable candidates who applied in the recruitment process so the Council has sub-contracted this temporary part-time role to an external company, SWL Security.

From 1st December 2025, you may notice a person dressed in a blue and black uniform patrolling both villages, with a badge on both front and back of uniform saying “SWL Security”. The CSO is also fitted with a camera and will use a tablet for reporting issues.

The CSO’s role is to provide a patrolling presence in the villages to improve the wellbeing of local residents and businesses and make people feel safer. If you see the CSO patrolling, please do engage with them, they are there to help you.

Please Note. The CSO does not replace the need for reporting crime and suspicious behaviour to the Police in the usual ways.
